There is much more to the UK than Big Ben and London. There are other places in England than London.
This is a green, beautiful country with many hidden gems that will surprise and delight you.
There are many other places in England to visit besides London
There are so many more places to explore than the five I’ve chosen.
1. Cornwall
The English love to spend their summers in this far-west part of the country. It is a great place for surfers because of the strong winds and easy access to Atlantic Ocean. Newquay is one of the most popular towns along the coast. It has many surf shops, and offers lessons for beginners as well as those with more experience.
It is also famous for its dramatic landscapes. Find out about the best places to go in Cornwall.
2. New Forest
Do you love horses? This is the place for you if yes! They are found in gardens, forests, meadows, and little towns. Although it seems that they have no owners, I was told by a local resident that most people in the area own at least one of these majestic animals. The majority of horses are wild and will stay that way for the rest of their life.
3. Bath
This ancient Roman town has an amazing, relaxed atmosphere. The old town is full of little shops, cafes, and an abbey. There’s also a Jane Austen Centre, parks, gardens, and a spa, where you can soak in hot springs while admiring the landscape.
The Roman Baths are the most famous. The complex was built to surround Britain’s one hot spring that still has hot water flowing. You can still walk on the same paths as Romans and see the ancient buildings.
4. Lake District
Do I really need to tell you more? Ancient woodlands and lakes, dramatic scenery, and many opportunities to enjoy nature are all there for you. The uplands are unlike anywhere else in Britain, as there is no modern development. This allows visitors to experience the wilderness more.
5. Brighton
Why did I choose Brighton over Scotland when there are so many beautiful places to visit in the UK? If you are a foreigner, and you come to this town on one of the few hot summer days that occur (preferably a weekend), you can experience a true British lifestyle. The town is lively and full of life during the summer.
Rent a deckchair and spend time watching others. Drink some cider, eat fish and chips, ride a rollercoaster, and wait for the sun to set. It will be an unforgettable day.
This list is far from complete! London is not the only place to visit in England. It’s great to see the rest of England, even if we love London.
