There are a couple of realities a visitor to Japan must face.
It is possible to pay up to US $300 per taxi ride between the airport and your hotel in downtown.
Even the most tech-savvy people find it difficult to make a call from a phone in a public place.
There are few places more visually stimulating and chaotically beautiful than Japan. The same is true for Osaka Hankyu Department Store ‘s food hall. The food hall at this popular department store rivals Harrods in terms of culinary abundance.
Traverse the aisles and you’ll likely agree, never before and never again will you see such a collection of interestingly shaped fruit, angry/cool/ugly-looking fish, brilliantly colored sweets…and who knew there could be an entire aisle dedicted wholly to the art of tempura?
Even small souvenirs and nibbles are expensive. The price of my tasty shrimp tempura stick came to US $25. (ok, it was big shrimp but still …)
It’s well worth visiting if you happen to be in Osaka.
